I am pretty sure it will work, I tested it with
this intro by Brainwalker which also uses the "7BPL feature" and it worked without any problems on my A1000 so I don't see why yours shouldn't work.

Just curious, how did you find this trick? By coincidence (i.e. accidentally writing a wrong value to BPLCON0)?
