Well, setting a release date and then working at the speed you like will make goodwill toward the product diminish.
And having a clear list of goals is usually good, but make it clear that it is a goal. Same thing here. People will compare the wishlist on the website with those actually finished for the NatAmi. Why not have a "features done"-list, like the release notes software developers add? Will result in less flaming and be more inspiring, I think!
