You could insert the line

ask continue

between "LoadWB" and "EndCLI" in s:startup-sequence. Then the DOS window stays open until you press the return key.

Another possibility is to boot without startup-sequence (hold down both mouse buttons after a reset and click on "boot without startup-sequence". Then you get an empty DOS window where you can enter the following commands:

set echo on
execute s:startup-sequence

Now you get a kind of trace (each command is listed in the shell window before it is executed) which you can pause by pressing any key. But this is probably too much for just one error message.
