I tried "Assign" posted by you and it works great on my AROS One 68k, see screenshot !
I should try the whole Built "AROS-20230308" (can you give me the link where you downloaded the Build), maybe there is something wrong with the Build.
Did you by chance mix AROS System with Libraries and files system Amiga OS ?
