Exactly, and that something is just a series of bits on a computer hd doesn't _really_ matter either. As long as it is an entity of some sort, it can be collected and there will most likely be people who find satisfaction by collecting it.
Monetary value is completely irrelevant. My grandmother collected nice-looking rocks. Hardly worth any money, but she was quite happy to pull them out from time to time to look at them and show them to us kids. The actual value of my game collection is also completely uninteresting to me. The only time money ever gets into the equation is when I buy the actual games. I won't sell them again, so it doesn't matter what they're worth.
