Well, in your case the collection actually has a physical value, as well as nostalgic and personal value. In the case of anyone with a huge bunch of pirated games, it wouldn't have any value at all, other than the usefulness of it (which really isn't the point of collecting).

People who collect stamps don't really care much for the overproduced ordinary stamps that everyone have, but it's the rarer and less common stamps that have any value. It's the same with original games vs pirated copies.
