Unless you've got OS3.5 or 3.9, there is almost nothing you can do. (Even with DefIcons which comes with the NewIcons package it is not possible AFAIK).

With OS3.5 you can create an icon in envarc:sys with the name of your CD-ROM drive. E.g. if your drive is named CD0, you call the icon envarc:sys/def_CD0.info.

Without OS3.5 you can change the floppy icon by creating envarc:sys/def_disk.info, but this applies to any disk, not only CD-ROMs.

However, there is a patch which allows you to replace the CD icon, IIRC it is called ForceIcon.

And there is a software package which allows you to virtually write to CDs. It is called WriteCD (or was it CD-Write ?)
