there were some good dtp apps, but I prefered Pagestream.
not all pure dtp, but there was ProPage, Finalwriter, Wordworth and some more, i forgot.
you can
find them on the ftp.
btw. since the pdf export of Pagestream is not allways perfect.
you can configure a postscript printer in pagestream or any other textwriter,
and output to a file.
this ps file you can convert with
Ghostscript (use non fpu for vampire) to a pdf.
