Yes, it is smaller because if you use directory as hard disk then small file like 200 bytes file can occupy (for example) 4KB (depends of sector size) on NTFS/FAT and if you have many files it means a lot. Amiga file systems usually use 512 bytes as size of sector and that's big difference with that many files. He want to reduce that with ZIP, but with zipped directory WinUAE became slow with many files. That's why I suggested to use option "Dynamic HDF". Also that dynamic HDF can be compressed with NTFS compression.
