This was very nice hack, I was starting to run out of undocumented features

This surprised me because I thought it is was not possible to trigger "dma overrun" condition without also causing visible bitplane corruption. Overrun itself was not new "feature", even OCS or ECS can do it but it also always causes corrupted display, for example few OCS-only demos trigger it when running on ECS Agnus Amiga.

I think you got lucky because audio DMA would have conflicted, causing audio or bitplane (or both) to glitch.
