Reviving my old Amiga hard drive

I had an A1200 which I used from 1992 up to about 1996. Since then it's been stored away and never used. I thought I'd dig it out and give it a try, but couldn't get it to work. So I thought maybe try to access the hard drive in WinUAE.

I took the machine apart and removed the HDD. I put it in a USB enclosure but it didn't work. So I bought a 2 IDE-SATA adapter from ebay, and the drive came up fine. Then I made a full image of the drive in Linux, and it gave no read errors and a full 170mb copy of the hard drive.

Next I started up WinUAE (together with the Blizzard 030 expansion I have). It refused to boot, but I was eventually able to edit the startup-sequence to remove two lines (which updated the ROM to 3.1, but seemed to break WinUAE), and then it was all fine. It seems I was using Super72 mode interlaced.

So after 20 years, here is my desktop booted again just as it was last time I used it on the real computer. It brings back a lot of memories.
