How are you guys getting such good fps in this?

Im using a 78mhz 060 with 128mb ram. Ive got blizkick running, with the latest hsmathlibs as well as oxypatcher. AmiQuake is giving me approx 16fps in timedemo demo1 but im stuggling to get more than 8.5 in AmiQuake2. Ive set AHI to Paula 8bit Fast Stereo++

Also, I cant make the screensize smaller. There's a bind - "sizedown" in the config but it doesnt do anything. Any ideas on how to do this?
