For a 1987 game, Screaming Wings doesn't so much look like crap as play like utter shite! Dodgy collision detection and a plane that moves across screen at snail pace makes for a frustratingly unfair, tough-as-nails slog if you want to get anywhere in the game.
Good thing this game was released at the end of '87 and not during '88 coz it would've looked, played 'n' sounded far, far worse next to the likes of Hybris
, Phantom Fighter
. Shoot'em-ups began to come of age on the Ami in '88 and then Cope-com really upped the ante again in '89 with Battle Squadron
. Now that's one game that really blew my socks off and still does to this day!
