Not particularly hard but it was hard to do really nice full screen parallax, and it limited colours available so more copper tricks were often used to make up.
It's not so impressive on the SNES or Megadrive because their graphics chips were built with making this as easy as possible. And they have about 5 years of technology advances on top of the humble Amiga.
