I can't say why they may or not be partixularly bad on the Amiga per se, but I think the problem as I experience it lies within the platform genre itself.

Lets face it, its a very limiting structure to place a game in and its been done millions of times. The only progessions I've seen in modern days is the likes of Braid or ones that dynamically generate levels and even thats not enough to draw me away from classics like Sleepwalker (a very original concept regardless of anything else).

To my mind, there were only a handful of original platofrmers and the rest differ only in their sprites, music and licensing deals.
