Yes, as well as the Null Modem (Serial) cable you will also have to buy a little 25pin->9pin converter plug that plugs into your PC's COM port and then you can plug the cable into that. For transfering to my Amiga I use a 25 pin female Null Modem cable and a small adapter which connects the other end of the cable into my PC's 9 pin COM port. The adapter only costs about 3 or 4 pounds so it's not expensive.

I've found you don't actually need that adapter. For £5.99 you can buy a 25pin female to 9pin female Null Modem cable from Maplin.
