That's a good point, though I have my doubts about any other OS using the MAS player. Still, I guess it would be easy enough to collect the serialised data from the parallel port or clock port registers and feed them to a MAS emulation - the information is basically just the MPEG frames sent directly to the chip, nothing fancy other than a couple of I2C initialisation codes which are in the data sheet: http://www.mas-player.de/mp3/download/mas3507d.pdf and the audio comes out the other side like magic
