I was always surprised the Amiga blitter had hard coded x increments. Programmable ones would have been more flexible.

This is a fairly interesting paper on using bitblit http://pdos.csail.mit.edu/%7Ersc/pike84bitblt.pdf

The Xor polygon filling is quite smart. Not really so useful on the Amiga as it already has area fill but cool nonetheless.
