I think It has mostly with revenue and money to do. In the two first years, before A500, the Amiga was "expensive" and only maybe 200 000 units sold or something like that the first year. C64 sold more in one month. Millions of potential buyers of C64 versions out there, the C64 was important. By reading some interviews, I know that some companies like Lucasfilm art, put big efforts in making them work for C64 with all it's limitations, specially for the SCUMM engine, Zac Mc Cracken and Maniac Mansion, it was very difficult I think.
