I would choose RGB2HDMI over a Scart-HDMI adaptor, the image quality is massively better.

Yep, it works great in A500+, but it doesn't support the ECS modes as mentioned. Hardly much of an issue, I can highly recommend it.

A crude way is to just run "avail chip" before and after launching your game.

Edit: misread the question, avail chip will only tell you if you've leaked memory.

I have the same card for my A500+, but it lacks...

I have the same card for my A500+, but it lacks RTC circuitry. Perhaps someone used it in a A500 at one point (with 512k RAM), and then later installed RAM chips for the full 1MB to use in a A500+.
