I built a plipbox from the polin avr kit. I did this to run it off 5v and ran it off the amiga psu's 5v rail. I didnt use miami, I used amitcp. It worked for me....

Went to power on A2000, black screen, removed all the cards, still black screen, removed accelerator and same.

Another idea, put a gotek in it and copy stuff into blank adf images using uae then transfer it to your usb key.
Also scsi2sd, its not that expensive ($70) and it sure is quieter than spinning...
