I wasn't implying that tests weren't made, but very obviously faulty cases were shipped out before the process was optimal. If it's only a small number and they can be replaced, not a big deal.

Yes, it's quite possible that the people at the plant have adjusted the process so that cases produced later don't have that issue. There should have been test batches to get everything figured out...

I don't believe that is the cause; injection molding is very sensitive to temperature and other factors, so more likely is that either the temperature hasn't been even in the mold (or injected...

The repair of that trace is trivial, a wire soldered across those points will do; but the big questions are:

1) what caused that trace to burn, and does the problem still exist on the board
2)...

There is evidence that at least ordinary UV protected lacquer does not prevent yellowing, but makes it impossible to apply retrobright again. So it's best to tread carefully there.

I would probably request a replacement due to that warping; I bought a black case and it doesn't look anything like that, the slats are straight. The thinned Gotek section is slightly visible from...

I've now encountered two A1200s with this extra copper shielding piece, similar to what the A4000 uses. At first I thought it is a piece snipped off the A4000 one but actually it seems to...
