Actually that's not a bad idea; have a standard grid size and snap icons to it; any large icons snap to multiple of the grid size. Set grid size in Prefs?

Probably an autoconfig issue; I've had all sorts of trouble with things sitting on the CPU slot and things on the expansion slot. It seems to be one or the other.
