for what i have read the seller bought without the install cd the mediator and never could make it work although he bought it as in working order.

i don´t think jumpering the chips would be a great idea ,the best thing to do is a df0: terminator.
or insert some kind of blank disk on floppy drive still i don´t think it would be much more fast....
