You could use the wb3.1 mode prefs program.. there's a "USE" commandline option for it, I'm not 100% sure but I think you have to give the mode ID to switch like "sys:prefs/screenmode USE $xxxxx"....

For P96 workbench I use TTF fonts through ttflib (aminet). Those seem to be the best for high-res screens, all the agfa fonts I've seen so far are just too thin.
