Whilst they're similar in some ways, I'd argue that the kickstart is completely different to a BIOS.

A BIOS is used to boot an operating system. The kickstart is an operating system.

In my experience, the main limitation of these early SVGA cards was lack of memory. Not speed.

At a far lower resolution that was nowhere near as good as what a PC of the time could offer.


Kickstart != OS. AmigaOS 3.x is pretty unusable...
