Afaik the Omega Sound Projects version does the same thing and steals the 12v from the serial. I am going to open the pyramid up and have a nose around.

In the end I threw the towel in, archived the whole lot onto a bare cf pcmcia card to nose at it...

The seller reported the drive reads! but disks have trouble ejecting.
