It probably is normal. WASAPI ex clicks for some reason each time audio device is paused/resumed. Probably something to do with exclusive mode "disconnecting"/"connecting" internal Windows mixer.

It is not emulated. Not worth the trouble.

It is hardware feature that is hidden in PAL chips, it probably steals cycles from the CPU periodically but I am not interested in reverse engineering it.
