The speed is more than enough for a small 3.1 installation and on the other hand the low speed helps in terms of compatibility.

Nope, but you can fix this problem with a 4MB PCMCIA Ramcard. The PCMCIA SRAM is not really fast - but enough for a small 3.1 installation.

Already tested it on my A4000 and the V1200....

Already tested it on my A4000 and the V1200. Siginificant speedup on the 060 - fast enough to surf on the a1k baord with my A4000. The V1200 is much faster than my A4000 with the 060 and PPC...
