I have 3.1.4 roms not, 3.2, might that be the issue? I have 3.2 for my A500. I ordered the A1200 ROMS version (3.2.1) yesterday, If I replace those (3.1.4 with 3.2) , that may fix the issue?

The CF is only for PCMCIA reasons. I don't have that in the system (PCMCIA port) all the time. But, when it is in, it behaves the same at startup.
