They are quite different so can't really be compared directly. EF does not emulate a disk drive so you cannot use it with D64 images. It works with cart images though and people have compiled EF ROMs...

Just remember to always lift the lock before pulling the kb cable, then it should not cause much wear on it. Some people just pull on the cable while it is locked and that will quickly destroy it.
