I liked both games on the Amiga. The combat, cargo scooping and docking in Elite, along with the gradual upgrading of your ship made it a great game to play for a many hours.

The Pi1 is great for a lot of tasks, but not emulation.
I've never tried Workbench on my Pi3, but it plays A500 games ok.
Your best bet is a Pi4 as it has the best CPU.
