Using CBM Monitor for Amiga emulation

I've found a few threads regarding the subject, but I'm still a bit unclear whether a simple VGA -> RGB (9-pin circular plug) connector would actually allow me to output video from my PC to my CBM...

Does anyone know what key to press in order to change units in North & South? A thread here said "right shift", but that doesn't seem to work in emulation (winUAE, arrow keys + ctrl as joystick).
