Did the converted directory exist when you tried to rename into it? If not "makedir converted" beforehand would have fixed that. Otherwise slashes in filenames are illegal.

By itself, Amos cannot kill your Amiga. I'd more suspect aging components. Especially if the clock battery has not been removed on the 500+. It takes out motherboard traces when it goes.

I don't think Bartman's GCC10 installation even supports the C++ stdlib option. It's for writing hardware-banging demo code. If you need to allocate memory, use AllocVec().
