A couple of weeks ago I downloaded an AGA game called Mad House -Indian Spirit from Pe2000.net. Since it won't run in emulators I am still puzzled what type of game this is. Can anyone give some information/ screenshots about Mad House? Many thanks in advance.

Mad House is a cool adventure game where you have to solve some puzzles which are utterly EASY AS PIE.
I don't know which dunce made you think that this is an AGA game: well, it works with plain ECS configuration, maybe that was the "problem". Make sure that you load a 3.x Workbench first, it doesn't need to be HD-installed,though. TOSEC v0.19 appears to be much more verbose here: "[WB]" could stand for "needs workbench", couldn't it? ![]() Here's a screenshot so you can get an impression of that game. It's frigging hard to make a screenshot without showing you how to solve those puzzles, but eventually I found one! ![]() Happy adventuring! Remember, if you have any questions - I solved the adventure in less than 1 hour!

Yeah, Madhouse is really cool. The things that make it great aren't the puzzles, but the graphics, story and especially the music. It's done in AMOS IIRC and you only need left, right and the firebutton to control it

Thanks for providing a screenshot for the game, Drake. Now I am definitely sure it is an adventure game. You are right, Madhouse is not AGA.
I had some trouble running the game; When I tried to load this game without Workbench, I first get a 'recoverable alert' -warning and then a Guru meditation. I will try to run it in Workbench 3.x tonight. |

Me too got problems with that game
![]() I tried to run it on a real A-500 ( kick1.3, 512k chip/512k fast ). Since I got a 'missing returncode 20' error I switched to Kick 2.0 and also switched to 1MB chip, but this time I got the recoverable alert Now, at last I tried to run the game on a A-1200 with 2MB chip and Kick 3.0, but the errormessage is still there ! Can you guys tell me how you run this game ? Or is this a special 'emulator only' version that won't run on a real Amiga

Ok, I got it running now. But it really needs WB 3.x and more than 1MB chipram.
So, even if it is an ECS grafic game, it needs an A-1200 or an A-500 with kick & much ram upgrade ! It won't run on full ECS machines like standard A-500+ or A-600....

@Samurai:
Ooops, of course I meant to thank Andreas. I have played the game for a while yesterday and no, I haven't finished it yet. The graphics and music are very good for a PD-game and the whole game does not look like it was programmed with AMOS. |

AFAIK, ECS was only introduced with the A3000. Well, and an A1200 is an AGA machine, not an ECS machine.

Well, the A-1200 is an AGA machine, sure !
A-600 and A-500+ are ECS machines. ECS particular is only the difference that these Amigas have an ECS graifk chip ( ECS Denise 8373 ). But since this ECS chip needs a better Agnus chip which can adress at least 1MB of chipram, ECS commonly also stands for an Amiga with the following specs: 1) ECS Denise 2) 1MB chipram 3) Kick 2.0 A-500+ & A-600 have all of these. I haven't tested it on a A-500+, but only on my OCS A-500, but switching to 1MB chipram and Kick 2.0 didn't help so I guess it either needs more chipram or a ECS Denise. I will check it on an A-500+ later.

![]() *Sigh* And I'm right, too. ECS *was* introduced with the A3000, but in 1990. A500+ was one year later. I didn't consider that the A500+ came out THAT late...![]() Well, you can't remember everything. cf. http://www.titan.co.nz/amigaak/AA020540.htm and http://www.titan.co.nz/amigaak/AA020570.htm Nice site!

Hmm, I think the A-500+ came out even after the A-600 !
Edit: Ooops, I'm wrong ! Just checked your links, and it says the A-500+ was before the A-600 !
