Rare: Battle Squadron 100% (2 disks)

i am looking for Battle Squadron 100% (on 2 disks). I was only able to find the one-disk version cracked by tic. But this version doesn’t include the intro-disk. I attached an review-article of battle squadron from an old german magazine (amiga joker 11/1989) where you can see some screenshots from the intro.

Does anyone have this 2-disk-version of the game or at least a standalone version?????

WHDLoad version which requires original also come in 1 disk.

It exists at least 2 versions of this game, NTSC & PAL. PAL version handle 320x256 screen game play.
a direct link of the game is available on www.whdload.de (don't know if it's PAL or NTSC version)

Whdload.de only offers the installer for the game, not the original game image!

Yes, of course I've seen that.

Let's take a closer look:
The disk version is the TIC crack and trained by Freestyle.
The HD-version is a pre-installed game!
In general, I do not like pre-installed games!
Imagine that there's another installer version available for download from whdload.de with some fixes - and what are you supposed to do with the image tampered with by the installer or with those single files in this case? Nothing, most likely.

So if anyone has the ORIGINAL IMAGE (warped, whatever) of this game, please post it. If possible, *no* single files caught inside a LHA or ZIP, por favor.

That nice pic while loading the game ? Because thats the only bit of intro I ever saw in Battle Squadron.

But I saw a nice intro of Battle Squadron in the mega-drive version

I think they do!
Sometimes the image is DICed and then modified a few bits to patch some things. Look closely at your HD-installed versions...some contain an image *around* 880K, but not *exactly* 880K, even with "special" AmigaDOS games that just differ from "normal" AmigaDOS games by the impossibility to copy the files off the disk in CLI (e.g. Budokan).
These *were* images with 901120 bytes, but were patched because of this and that.

I had the TIC cracked version on 1 disk.
It did have the intro, the difference between that version and the WHDload version was that the intro is not shown after the title-picture, you had to wait a while (after the options start screen and the demo) for the intro to start.

The intro I'm talking about is the one showing black+white pictures with green text narrating the BattleSquadron storyline.

The sequence (from memory) was something like this on
the TIC cracked single disk:

1. Title pic
2. Options screen
3. Demo
4. Options screen
5. Intro

Bullshit.

Only complete lamer patchers would ever tamper with the disk image. The whole WHDLoad project relies on extracting the data off the original disk and patching around it.

Sometimes AmigaDos disks appear smaller than 901120 bytes purely because we analyse the game and work out where there are redundant tracks - for example Stunt Car Racer. There is no point having a 901120 byte file when the game never loads more than about 450k - so in the imager I slice out the useless part which means Amiga's without much memory can still play the game. Games with more than 901120 bytes are custom MFM format and we rip the useful tracks off the disk, sometimes converting the game to files if there are big gaps on the game disk.

In the rare circumstances that a piece of code cannot be decrypted (eg. Tearaway Thomas) the original disk image is included as well as another decrypted file which is loaded inplace of the original loader.

I would say that the only people who modify disk images are twats that can't crack games properly and use generic slaves to run a cracked disk image. And these unofficial patches will never be uploaded to the WHDLoad site.

And on the subject of Battle Squadron, the game is definitely one disk, definitely has a long intro consisting of lots of different pictures and is custom MFM format meaning a lot more than 900k was squeezed onto the disk.

Goddamn! I never saw the intro on the Amiga version! The mega-drive version has this same intro, but I never saw it in the amiga version!

Guess I never waited long enough

I guess this is the intro picture from the Amiga Joker rObOt is talking about. Later in the review, they say what they reviewed wasn't the final version, but an early beta, so I guess what they show there could be wrong

Just to go slightly off-topic, but still Battle Squadron related, what's everyone's opinion's on it?
How does it compare to later vertical-scrolling shoot-em-ups like SWIV & Banshee? I do recall Zzap giving it a good review for the time, but I wondered if it was that good?
