Original Mean Steets disk 2

Hi,

bought a copy of Mean Streets off eBay and noticed while making backups that the cylinder 79 of disk 2 was corrupt.

If anyone has an original copy of the game I'd be really glad if they could upload a copy in DMS format to the Zone.

I think I need the original copy for the reason that the cracked version was released on three disks for some reason.

Thanks in advance!

I cant see an IPF of this game so I cant check.
Does the game have any Copy Protection - and does your backup work even though there seems to be a problem.
If the game has no copy protection could you upload?
The game has manual protection?

LongTrack track 79?

Yes, the game has a manual protection. I couldn't test the backup disk as the copy process was aborted already at the source reading phase (I used Workbench DiskCopy).

And yes I could upload it once I get home, but I'm tot sure how I could get this game into ADF format on my system at the moment. Do you think the error is fixable?

Finally, I don't think track 79 is LongTracked as it fails also ingame.

Your original disk fails?
Try using X-copy
If the game has no copy protection but has a corrupt file - maybe replace file with version from WHDownload pre-installed.

Of course someone might still upload the game.

Yes, the original fails ingame.

I'll have to try with another copy program indeed, but I don't think that replacing a file would fix broken cylinders.

Of course, someone might still upload the disk indeed..

Well, I could always try although I fear that the text portions are also stored on the second disk, but you never know..

Could you please zone it?

I have the original German DMS images from Ungi. Maybe you can replace the German txt with the English ones?

Ok, after a considerable amount of hassle I finally got the DMS image of disk 2 written and tested the game. Unofortunately it all turns German if I use the German disk 2.

So, I'd still need the DMS image of disk 2 of the English version.

Have to replaced the txt files? Could you post disk 1 of your original version?

Edit: Aah, wouldn't help. I don't have the manual for the protection check.

I'm gonna look into this if I manage to get my CD32's hard drive into my A1200. It might help.

I ended up installing the WHDload version to the same drive so at least it's now on the miggy side, but the only problem is that my CD32 doesn't have a keyboard and this requires it.

Ok, I got things working but I noticed that the pre-installed WHD version doesn't have any .txt files in it unlike the disks. Instead they're .cmp files which are not pure text. Replacing is probably not an option.. any ideas?

I've put the correct files/folders from the preinstalled English WHDLoad version (according to the German disk 2, minus the txt files) on an ADF. Maybe you could try it. Or do you really need a DMS image?

I'll give it a try for sure although if you can make it into a dms image that would be great. I had to go thru three computers to get it to a disk. :/

DMS is in the Zone. Not sure about the correct Amiga disk label name.
