Question Which Amiga model is better

Which model between A1200, A3000 and A4000 is better to use (emulate) for playing WHDLoad games ?

Goes without saying, the flagship machine really is the A1200

Emulation is cheaper than buying a real machine (but i rather a real machine), so buying an A4000 for most people is not financially viable, whereas an accelerated 68030 based A1200 with some extra ram is a cheaper and more well rounded option.

Maybe i am wrong, you might be able to get hold an A4000 these days that is about the same price of an accelerated A1200 but i somehow doubt it. The A3000 is a brilliant machine also, but it does not possess the AGA chipset.

I will always have a soft spot for the A500 though

The A4000 is great it rocks. I am a fortunate owner of one for the past 14 years and it works like day one.

But I think for someone who wishes to start in Amiga the A1200 is the best deal as blade002 says, because of availability and price, and you can beef it up later with anything you could probably want/need.

The best will be A1200 with some fast RAM (even 2Mb is enough but 4 is better). 030 makes palying a little better but you might get trouble in some games (that's very rare). Amiga 4000 and generally machines with processsor 040 and higher are not needed and they can cause in more troubles.

I personally use A1200 with turbo 1230 mkII with 16 Mb Fast and that's enough for whdload games.

Just tried few WHDLoad games with A4000 config, but i see no differences compared to A1200 config
Perhaps the only thing important for WHDLoad games is RAM, not CPU used

However what's difference between "Fast RAM" and "Z3 Fast RAM" ?

Some WHD games have problems on 040 processor. It's better to use 030 after all.

WHDLoad problems generally aren't because of 68040 CPU but implementation of the accelerator card (memory speed, bus cycle allocation etc..)

I am just saying: stating that "<put some processor here> usually means problems" isn't true.

But it's better to use simple 030 turbo card than 040 card or higher, yes?

@AW: Generally speaking, it's a better and faster CPU on a card, most of the times with some extra memory.
Each (at least those smaller) Amigas has it's own accelerator card expansion slot and if you want to get one - you have to buy the one that will fit in your Amiga.
