[Request] - Chaos Engine AGA

hello there Sprites team,

I was wondering about a little idea I had... I am hoping was looking out for any sprites of the AGA nature for Chaos Engine, including screens / menuws etc...

Has anyone ripped the AGA version of this gem of a game?

or it could be.....

Chaos Engine:
  • Remix
  • Time Guardians
  • The Infernal Machine
  • 1.5 Return of the :-
    • Infernal Machine
    • Mad Professor
    • Chaos
  • Mercenary Unit
  • Dimensional Crisis
  • Insidious Seed

yeah... i could REALLY go on... the game really had a lot of potential for a lot of add-ons, but alas they brought out that absolutely dire Chaos Engine 2.. WTF!?

anyways got chatting with some forum chummies about it, and i could say it sparked an interest in the artwork and perhaps a tease into what might be possible in the future...

All i could find on the project sprites website is the ecs version i think of chaos engine, and I also belive it might be incomplete too... I was wondering if the site hadn`t been updated in a while, someone might be sitting on the rips and maps from the game.

so yeah.... i might be upto something.....

You have until August to create "Chaos Engine 1.8 - Ultimate Slalom"

Sprites and Tiles are easy to locate, but it seems every sprite and tile uses a different palette and therefore it is hard to rip without spending lots on time for every sprite to find the correct palette.

The screenshot attached shows the settings for level 1. Unfortunatly I don't have the time to rip then for the moment but at least I want to share the settings with you so you might have a start from there.

Hi,

I used a different technique: from WinUAE screenshots and files from the CD32 version (THUG.BIN, PREACHER.BIN ...) I could recreate the sprites, with a simple C program and a manual phase of 16 Color palette edition with PaintShop (10 minutes per sprite set, so it's cool).
GFXRip on those .BIN files did not work, I wrote a C program because I figured out that the new gfx must have been made with another gfx tool, maybe on PC and the format was "half chunky". I wrote the image with a "random" palette, and recoloring worked fine.

Here's the proof:[Request] - Chaos Engine AGA-preacher_aga.png

tell me if you want more.

My Chaos Engine remake project is far far away in time, but with this it's becoming closer ...
