New A500(+) Cases from A1200.net

Hi folks,

It looks like Phil has posted a bit of a teaser on the A1200.net site - it looks like the next project after the Keycaps will be shiny new A500 cases!

I have to say I'm certainly up for a couple of cases as my A500's are looking rather sad and brown :(

It'll certainly be nice to get them looking as minty fresh as my A1200's, especially after the keycaps arrive :)

I'm keeping tabs on https://www.a1200.net for updates :D

As with all their other products, this case looks like a very high quality. Wish them huge success.

Unfortunately I never backed the A1200 case at the time because I had other spending priorities, but now I’m after one. Registered my email address with Amigastore.eu which says they are due for restock Q3/Q4 2017. Also registered with a1200.net. Well the year is almost over and still haven’t heard anything. Does anyone know if more A1200 cases will be made? Really want one but frustrated on how difficult it is to get one.

I’ll be interested ONLY if a Vampire colour is defined. :)
I recently bought an A500+ only to play with my Vampire V2 ... :)
... I so much wanted A600 cases! I need 9 of them...

Sounds good, though I still don't understand why they did not sell A500 coloured keycaps, hopefully they will correct this if they are going to sell the cases.

Their keycap campaign is universal. Keys should be compatible with all Amiga keyboards except A1000 and original chicken lips A500 keyboard.

Yeah, I've got like 4 sets coming, and at least one of those is for one of my A500's :)

Yeah, but the A500 isn't supposed to have white keycaps. At least the last time I checked they didn't have a light grey or beige option. IIRC the reason was that they hadn't been able to quite figure out what the original A500 colour should be.

Light grey, but no beige.

I didn't want anything that looked like it was "supposed to", so I went with red/black two colour scheme.

Yeah, I managed to get that answer after asking lots, still sounds a bit odd to me though! Original or at least close to the original keycap colour can be seen on the underside of a yellowed key.

Well, there are two different kinds of key stem even for the mitsumi keyboards. These keycaps would be compatible with the ones that have a recess in them. The same style is found in all wedge Amiga keyboards made by Mitsumi.

The other style (found in some A2000/A3000 keyboards at least) has a non-recessed key stem. These can take the recessed stem keycaps, but they will sit much higher.

Note the difference in the underside of the keycap between the two styles. The keyboards can take either stem/cap combo, but if you're going to mix and match, you need to swap them as a pair.

New A500 cases...shut up and take my money :D

Mick 01 December 2017 14:50

Really wish I had one of those A1K 500+ boards now.

bimbo 10 December 2017 15:58

A new case for my old A500, would be great. It's tired and worn and needs that extra love.

WalterEgo 10 December 2017 16:03

That is great news! Need more keycaps for my 500 now.

You're not alone... It seem that there are many people who missed out on the first batch who'd like to see more boards coming (myself included):

Back on the topic, the new A500 cases = awesome!
