An interview with Carl Sassenrath. Nice read about our fave OS!

Is there a link ;)

Amiga1992 02 July 2002 06:45

hah! What an idiot, I forgot the essential part of the post :P

After reading it, I came to the conclusion this guy is a genius like all the other Amiga creators. :D It was really a Dream Team!

I notice a parallel between hiss ideas for REBOL and the new AmigaOS. Coincidence? I think not ;). HE knows his shit very well!

WTF is a .RAM file? And the file doesn't exist anyway!

I get the impression it's some kind of bizarre Web-television streaming media kind of crap thingy is it?

Is it viewable with an Amiga browser through a dial-up connection?

Why do they persist in making things in these bizarre formats, what's wrong with ASCII, HTML, AmigaGuide, IFF WORD, IFF FTXT, etc. for an interview? Or if they really must have an animated interview (!) (what is the point?) why not IFF ANIM, or MPEG, etc.?

Sorry, better stop before I get carried away :-)

I believe this is a Real Audio Media file if I remember correctly. They also use .RM and some other file extensions as well ;)

I dont know where you guys are looking at, but I READ the interview, didnt hear any pish Real Audio stream file.

HTML is Amiga friendly :)

Minuous 02 July 2002 15:11

The file won't download, I've tried now at work and home. :-(

If you have a text version maybe you could post it in the Zone for everyone :-)

Big-Byte 02 July 2002 15:41

click on the link and then use the scrollbar to scroll the page up and read the transcript. :rolleyes

Minuous 02 July 2002 15:50

Oh. Sorry. I feel skilly now :eek

"The original Amiga came out in 1995", typo for sure.

Just for the sake of clarity, a .RAM file is how Real Audio streams data. If you download it, you can open it with a text file and it contains the location of the actual file to be streamed, which Real Player uses. This format has been around since at least 1996. I thought the Amiga finally has Real Audio support (why it would want it is anybody's guess...)

Amiga1992 02 July 2002 19:42

I think there is a RA player but who cares?

Just read the interview, scroll down the page! :P We dont need pish RealAudio :)
