ERROR: Metal Masters (Illegal Instruction / Address Error / Black Screen)

Added "Metal Masters" to the list due to errors which seem like the copy protection hasn't been properly cracked.

About Metal Masters, i get a level 6 autovector error (CIA-B) at $78

on my a1230 32mb of RAM.

I know it's a very old thread, but I just tried to install Metal Masters and it worked fine. When I asked tomse and xpect to try it they reported back that it doesn't work. Seems like this is one of the games that doesn't like to be zipped (as Retroplay recently discovered). With LHA the game works nicely.

Check the zone for the archive and thanks again to tomse and xpect for testing :)

Edit: The copy protection problem is still there it seems...

tomse 24 March 2012 17:25

I think we were alittle too fast in the response.

The game starts up, but completing a level you get to the copy protection, which as KG mentions isn't cracked properly. and the error message as dlfrsilver mentions, appears when you are thrown out into WB/CLI.

Tested on hardware : A1200 w/Blizz 1230 MK IV @ 50MHz w/64Meg ram - WHDLoad 17.0.5139

In case anybody wants to test if it works even with the copy protection, the manual is available on HOL : http://hol.abime.net/2455/manual

tomse 25 March 2012 11:12

The manual in HOL doesn't seem to have the copy protection sheet/matrix

I did find a rather confusing description here:
http://www.hipooniosamigasite.org/am...3/MetalMasters

on how to manage the copy protection.

dlfrsilver 25 March 2012 14:29

i have the copy protection sheet if i remember well :).

tomse 25 March 2012 15:32

I think it would fit well in HOL :-D
