amiga 4000t guru boot

hi

i Have a Amiga Technologies/Escom Amiga 4000T. I have, sometimes, a problem little curious. when I cold start, sometimes, see a guru before loading workbench. What is wrong? Is there a solution? the machine have 040/25.16MB RAM, rom 3.1, scsi hd 1 gb and not zorro expansions installed.

thanks

He said cold, before loading. So that would tell me its nothing to do with HDD.

Sure way to tell is to remove the HDD and startup, then see. Off for 10 mins, then try again, repeat a few times.
That should rule it out being a HDD startup-sequence problem.

I thought cold start meant power on. I mean not a reset.

Me too.

You 2 are just being funny. You know exactly what I ment.

Obviously you turn something on and it is called "FROM COLD" or "COLD START".

Who mentioned RESET?? Obviously, resetting is NOT a "COLD START".

Best to try for both. Remove the hard drive as you suggested and if you still get a guru on power up then it is a hardware issue.

Thats not always true, the A4000D I used to use, guru'ed everytime you turned it on. Turned out to be a faulty daughter zorro board.

Think we need a more detailed description.
As he doesnt give enough info.

no offense, but only one being funny is you here.

you can't tell that from the little information given by the OP. It may be anything from this description ...

btw, why's the aggression ? we're just trying to help here. :confused

Aye, sorry.

Was'nt my intention to come across all agressive.

the guru occurs when i have a cold boot and is not forever, only sometimes.

Surely related with bad capacitors on the motherboard.

Please explain more, though. Does the guru come before anything is loaded from the hard disk?
