How did Akira, MosMensk, CodyJarrett, Malc-ALE etc. become moderators...

...for all the message boards on this site except for this one that I'm posting on?

Did they contribute and/or help you in some way? I'm pretty interested.

Mangar 12 June 2001 21:03

Bingo!

CodyJarrett 13 June 2001 14:56

The Story

Well, it's like this:

I decided that I didn't like the UK anymore and wanted to move to Paris. So, I packed up my five hundred or so Amiga game boxes and the Action Replay in lots of boxes. I attached them to the back of a pig escaping from the Foot and Mouth disease slaughter near Maidenhead and grabbed its tail.

Pretty soon, it had dragged me through the Channel Tunnel (or Chunnel, if you will) and we were well on our way to the French capital.

The first thing I noticed was that people were letting their dogs shit all over the pavement! So, I told one guy that if he didn't want to clean up after his dog, did he think that I wanted to step in the mess? He didn't like this very much and the pig with the Union Jack on its ass didn't help matters.

I was soon running for my life, pursued by Parisiens. I knew that I could only take a few boxed Amiga games, so I grabbed Paradroid 90 and Civilization and started to make for the British Embassy.

"Open the gates! Open the gates!", I screamed as I made a mad dash for the front gate of the Embassy. Unfortunately, the Embassy staff were too busy watching Big Brother to notice. Brainless morons.

At the last minute, a miracle happened. RCK happened to be passing in his Mini Cooper (he has three, like in The Italian Job, but they are the colours of the Tricolore instead). I jumped in and said, "I'm CodyJarrett, who the hell are you?". He replied, "I am RCK, would you like to be a moderator for the EAB?".

The rest is well-known.

RCK 14 June 2001 12:23

haha yes !

I love your story Cody :)
Did you finally find some amiga shop in Paris ?

CodyJarrett 14 June 2001 13:00

Paris

I haven't found a single Amiga game in Paris yet! There are weird shops for everything else.

I did find somewhere with about 5 or 6 old games shops, but those were for consoles like Neo Geo and Nintendo or PC games.

RCK 14 June 2001 13:10

To MarzAttakz:

All the moderators at the EAB have the following skills / qualifications :

- They have one great Amiga knowledge (games or technical)
- They help people without fragging newbies
- They are all present on the board as much as they can
- They love the retro-gaming and the memories of the gold age of Amiga
- They are all nice

enigma 14 June 2001 13:59

I've been in Paris, too!

Our contact that means our friend where I forgot my pyjamas and a pair of socks :cheese lives at... hm... err...
Place D' Italie.
Is that close to you guys?

RCK 14 June 2001 14:36

Place d'italie is one of my favourite spot.
I'm actually living at about 10 minuts of it (in subway).
(and 20 minuts in roller ;))

CodyJarrett 14 June 2001 16:01

Paris

I'm at the other side of the city - the west side.

Amiga1992 14 June 2001 19:31

I've been to Paris for a month. I have to go back there. Then perhaps we can have an Amiga meeting, or something ;)

AND, I have to grab some Amstrad CPC stuff... Je suis une CPC'er! :P

Faut-il acheter une PC pour jouer? Mais non, mon ami!

Reviving old thread

Ah, I ate a sandwich with my girlfriend at Place d'Italie only yesterday! (Back at work near Brussels now...)

*sigh*

Djay 03 December 2002 04:58

stranglely enough...

i've been going through EAB... checking the FAQs Tutorials post in the new to EAB/Amiga thread... (can't believe i've been here a year and a half and never read it)

check out my old posts... etc... re-reading the banned members stuff

and then i happen to find a Thread started my the infamous Marz... brings back memories...

...man, i love you guys:D

-SolidSnake- 03 December 2002 05:05

Hehe good'ol Marz... what was it again Marz AttacZ?

didn't he trie to become an member again?... but RCK found the ip adress and banned him again... and there was an another forum he complained for being kicked out from eab?

alkis21 03 December 2002 11:24

I'm pretty sure they slept with someone. I mean, how else would someone in their right minds would choose them as moderators? First of all, they're a {EDITED BY AKIRA} bunch of {EDITED BY CODYJARRET}.

CodyJarrett 03 December 2002 15:29

Damn! The secret's out!

DamienD 10 October 2017 23:02

Classic CodyJ, love your story in post #3 my friend!!!

...I couldn't possibly dare reveal mine then :p

@RCK; after reading your post, not sure how I was allowed in???

I fail most of this criteria... all I can say is that you must have really relaxed standards by a great deal, and been very desperate indeed :lol

Didn't RCK "recruit" you as a mod using the latest in cutting edge torture techniques - i.e. by putting you in a cage with TCD and his smelly banjo-playing sock puppet Pepe??!! :D

Amiga1992 10 October 2017 23:27

LOL classic MarzAttackz thread xD

Well, I was a GM years before "The Cyber Druid"; in fact I think he took over from me... but still, no further comment my friend :p

A real shame that TCD has disappeared though; great / helpful guy :agree

...happens to us all though; I went AWOL for 6+ years before returning for more long hours spent making sure this board runs smoothly (not to mention abuse from various members not happy with my moderation in order to achieve the previous).

I was only referring to your more recent "return" as a mod mate! :laughing RCK's initial recruitment of you involved much more primitive techniques from what my intelligence reports reveal - something along the lines of force-feeding you with mouldy 6 month-old croissants smattered with rancid butter and vegemite??!! ;)
