Apple Pippen
Long ago, before Microsoft put out the X Box, Apple released the Pippen. It flopped miserably. But its 32 bit processor and hardware otherwise was more powerful than a PS. If only the marketing genius Steve Jobs was on board in 1994..who know what might have happened?

Here's a more direct link to said machine:
http://www.videogamebible.com/Neo-Ga...dai_pippin.htm I was surprised...I expected the controller to only have one button! :laughing And let's face it. That box would have never sold with such an awful name...no matter how it was marketed. |
It's actually called Pip!n, or P!pin, not Scotty Pippen :laugh
It was a joint effort with Bandai of Japan. The concept is what you see today in PS2s, Dreamcasts and Gamecubes... you couldconnect to the net, and all that stuff.. The multiple task home entertainment system (canI say teh CDTV headstarted this movement?) Lame name indeed. And I dont thik it got any killer games. |
LICK MY BALL.
Word up, Twist! That is a GAY name if I ever heard one. Double :laugh @ the one button thing !!! Maybe there was an "Apple" key somewhere on the controller to compensate?? Buy one Akira..you know you want it |
It's an odd site to navigate...I reckon these guys are publishing a book on videogame systems. It was interesting reading their comments on CDTV and CD32. Not terrible assessments, but certainly missing many required details.
This is the page that cracked me up: Collections and since I mentioned them: CDTV CD32 I'm really amazed at how many of these systems I had and just gave away: most of the Ataris, Bally Astrocade, ColecoVison (+ full ADAM extensions), C64, VIC-20, Emerson Arcadia 2001, Fairchild Channel F, Odyssey 2, RCA Studio II, TI-99/4A, TRS CoCo, TG16 - these systems (and many others they are missing from their page) were like falling out of trees in CA thrift stores for mere pennies and my gararge was overflowing with these systems, plus boxes and boxes of cartridges, disks, joysticks/controllers, power supplies, cables, etc. I remember Pyromania and I went to a Radio Shack one night and tried out one of those VIS systems. Quite unimpressive cack. And I remember seeing them sold in outlet catalogs for $99 with 10 CD's. I seriously considered getting one then just because of the price, but now that I know M$ had a hand in it (in their typical forced entry style), I'm glad I didn't! |
NExt time give out the systems to me, Twistin :D

I miss Twisty :sad

I have one of these.....it was £10 so i could not resist :rolleyes :)
all I need for it is a joypad...hummm talking of its joypad I think a little trackball should be on most joypads |
All the links are dead. Never heard of a pipen by mac. Who would buy a game console from a company that isnt known for games on their computers?
Only a titan like sony could pull that off, since they were in the entertainment buisiness anyway. |
Do you play games on it? What came out for it?
|
have not played anything on it yet because i need a joypad.....but i did once find a website which had games for it to download...mostly Jap manga stuff...and i think a bomberman type game aswell
|
Worst controller I've ever seen. I played with one a CompUSA years back and wasn't impressed a bit. Although, it's a neat collectors item.
