A1200 32GB CF Card Issues
Hoping you guys can help me out here, I setup a 32GB CF card using PFS3 AIO (followed fitsteve's video guide), the card works absolutely spot on in WinUAE (IDE0 or UAE controller), but in my A1200 it boots fine and the Workbench (500MB) partition is fine, but all of the data it tries to read from my 2nd partition is corrupt (games etc.) I tried copying a game over to my Workbench partition and it still was corrupted. If I put the card back into WinUAE, it works fine
I suspect it might be my IDE->CF adapter? I can't see any reason why it'd work in WinUAE and not in my amiga other than a hardware fault. My A1200 is using 3.1 ROM, 3.1 workbench and has an ACA1221 accelerator. I've had numerous drive corruption issues with it in the past using 4GB cards as well, though too many years ago to remember the specifics apart from that I was using SFS back in those days. Thanks for any suggestions! |
Please run this program: http://thomas-rapp.homepage.t-online.../hddreport.lha
Run it once on WinUAE and once on the A1200, then attach both reports here. |

Hi thomas, thanks for the response, attached below are the two reports
Whilst hooked up to WinUAE (with everything working fine) I copied a couple of games from my Data (29GB) to my Workbench (500MB) partition. When hooked back up to my A1200, the games I copied from Data to the Workbench partition are working absolutely fine, and as before all the files on my Data partition are unreadable/corrupt on the A1200 (though folders/filenames are correct) There's some strange differences with the report between winuae and the a1200, I'm not really sure why it looks so different. Any suggestions much appreciated! I created the WinUAE report using the IDE0 controller incase that makes any difference Many thanks guys |
Nothing wrong shown in the reports. The A1200 doesn't seem to have an RTC.
I would suspect version 44.2 of scsi.device. Never used it myself but judging from Google hits it might cause all kinds of trouble. And the download seems to have vanished. The latest official version of scsi.device is 43.43 from OS 3.9 BB2. It does not properly support LBA48, but otherwise should be stable. If you don't have OS 3.9, you can get version 43.24 from there: http://os.amigaworld.de/index.php?lang=de&page=37 and remove the beta warning with this: http://aminet.net/package/util/sys/patchstrip |
Genius! Thank you very much, I swapped out to an earlier version of scsi.device and now working perfectly
Can't thank you enough |
Hi, sorry to bother you after all this time, but can I ask you if the CF worked well and which make and model you used? It seem to be really difficult to find a CF bigger than 4GB approved for Amiga.

Hey
Yes it did and still does work just great, I used a Sandisk 32GB card - after the above issues with scsi.device were solved, no problems whatsoever :-) |
Sorry to add to the thread necro, but I am curious which version of scsi.device you used in the end please? I think I may have run into the same problems as you originally did.

I remember reading the following thread: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=61666 and looking at the table of different versions
I'm pretty sure I went with scsi.device 43.45, the patched version. It was definitely 44.2 that was at fault, so likely any of those OS 3.5/3.9 ones would have worked. But 43.45 did the job for me Good luck :-) |
