Last Ninja 2 tune "inspired" by an older tune, "Midnight in Tula"
I stumbled upon a thread on the Last Ninja archives forums (which are sadly pretty much dead), where a user called "ninjav12" posted about this... it might be old news that most people know already, I have no idea... but it was news to me.
Anyway, the music that plays in the Office stage in Last Ninja 2 is very, very similar to an older tune by "Tangerine Dream" called "Midnight in Tula". I made a little comparison clip, have a look/listen - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9Asl7O1RC8 |
The Mansion level music is also "borrowed" from Tangerine Dream.

Hah cool :D
Now I'm wondering if there are even more tunes "borrowed" like this.. |
Also sounds like Tangerine Dream borrowed the beginning from the beginning of Trans-Europe-Express by Kraftwerk.

Total rip-off of Legend Of Kage (arcade version), and more specifically the Fred Gray C64 version. |

You can find things like this in a lot of songs. The tune of the demo Desert Dream is inspired in an old house track, slightly so but noticeably.
It is pretty impossible to leave your influences and what you listen out of your creation process. Everything is a remix. Paul_s: just because they use the same sample doesn't mean they were "inspired". Many people used presets and sample libraries back then. It was normal for similar patches or same samples to appear. It's like saying all the old Soundtracker tunes are inspired by one another, because they all use the ST-XX sample disk. |
Enchanted Land (Jochen Hippel) is heavily inspired by Light Force (Rob Hubbard)
