Resident Evil port for Atari ST

Some French guy is porting the RE engine to Atari ST.

Anybody thinking what I'm thinking ?

alexh 06 February 2009 14:35

That it is rubbish?

That it uses a software OpenGL renderer?

That it is likely to run an 1-2 fps?

coze 06 February 2009 14:39

no but it actually could work ok under 060/PPC/CGX/Warp3d ?

killergorilla 06 February 2009 14:46

Hurrah for 10 year old games running badly on overpriced hardware!

coze 06 February 2009 14:48

Uhuuhuhu :sad mommy KG and AlexH ruin my partyyy ... :crying

Zetr0 06 February 2009 14:52

Thats pretty awesome!

y'know, I do believe an 030 with GFX card could easily achieve resident evil, after all its only a handful of limmited polygon models on a static background, infact I rekon an 060 would be able to do this without a gfx card :)

killergorilla 06 February 2009 14:59

Yeah, but would it be worth the effort?

No :)

Zetr0 06 February 2009 15:15

@KG

where theres Zombies and Shotguns.... theres a way :)

alexh 06 February 2009 15:47

As a bit of fun... or even a demo "yay cool".

As a real attempt at a back port... "Booooo. Go something else instead.. Boooo"

FYI: I think the only real attempt at 3D texture mapped stuff (Akin to RE objects) on Amiga was Tales of Tamar?

Zetr0 06 February 2009 16:00

@alexh

I dont think your a fan of the resident evil series..... hmmm nope.... gonna go out on a limb and say that its just not your cup of tea ;) :D

I did have a look at the Tales of Tamar on HOL since its handy, all i noted was a couple of static pretty looking backdrops what kinda game is it?

alexh 06 February 2009 17:00

Wrong. Loved BioHazard (as I know it) and it was great first on the PSOne, then PS2, and most recently RE4 on the Wii

I just dont see the need to play a compromised back-port just "cos it's on the Amiga".

I'm a gamer, I want to play the most enjoyable version of a game, a reason why I'm not a fan of Amiga DOOM or Quake etc. but I am a fan of Alien Breed 3D and Genetic Species.

Tales from heaven (sorry got the name wrong) is a 3D platformer, but there isn't that much 3D or platforms :)

You mean Tales From Heaven, no?.... cuz, is there 3D in Tamar?

Anyway, was gonna do a longplay of it TFH..... forgot.. :P.... or you could have seen it on YT now..... it's nothing special, but still a decent game.... lots of good 3D games on the Amiga, but this one is far from the best of them.

I sort of like Trapped 2 :P

Look at the notes on the HOL page :) I'm not sure you really want to though ;)

Retro-Nerd 07 February 2009 00:07

You can't do more than just walking around in this short Amiga Demo, iirc.
