Emu EMAX I Sample Library 4 Amiga (straight from disk)

This time I bring you the entire* EMAX I library converted to 8 bit for use with our miggies. The samples have been extracted from the original floppy library using CMXPn and converted to 8svx with no resampling. Notes from F-3 to A-3 works fine, and you can upsample without much aliasing if you need higher octaves due to its quality.

Not much to say about EMU. This could be one of the best sample libraries available for Amiga but it has some things you should take care:

-This collection doesn't have any loop set. You will have to do it manually.
-The bit depth has drop from 16 to 8 bit to fit amiga standards, but compression is applied to preserve the quality as much as possible.
-Sample names coudn't be preserved, so they have named after the emu-bank they belong
-Some samples are >65534 bytes, so loading in protracker will cut them. If you want the full sample to be used, you must upsample it (using soundbox for example).

* some disks are missing due to faulty conversion. working on them.

I'm still working on new sample banks, next to come: ENSONIQ MIRAGE

to be true, I preffer the Fairlight CMI one. What do you think?

FINAL NOTE: All my libraries have been uploaded to EAB file server for backup. You can access these here.

EDIT: I'm checking the library and I've found some original ST-XX samples, Look into TINE_STRINGS, PIPELINE and RAGIN_WATERS for instant pleasure!!! It's not so bad!

EDIT2: All links updated.

Thanks a lot for the highly appreciated hard work ! ^^)

Btw, as the new Amigas handles 16 and 32 bits sound, what about making the original sound banks availlable for download too ?

You're right. Fairlight sample libraries were 8 bit so i wont change these. When I've finished converting the EMU faulty disks I will post the samples in both bit depth.

Just to say, I'm working on those collections due to the lack of quality sounds for plain amigas (ST-xx is cool but sounds rubbish), not intended for use with modern DAWs (8bit oriented).

Thanks for the feedback... MUCH MORE TO COME! ;)

PS: Please repost them everywhere if you like. We need mirrors (i'm out of space). Maybe archive.org? :)

you should create an account on eab fileserver - read here.
in the end folder: ~Uploads/adrdesign . there is the server and a mirror ( auto-update ).
thanks for your work :)

Thanks, uploaded to the server!

I've uploaded to the zone the beta version of this collection with loops preserved. Shame I added loops also to samples that weren't suppossed to be looped, so please, manually remove the loop if it sounds buggy. :(

If I found a way to solve this I will post the final version here... meanwhile... you can play...

(see 1st post)

PS: I hope my english was enough. :)

adrdesign any chance you could upload the originals in .wav format ?

I would like to be able to use these samples in Pro-tools !

thanks !

adrdesign 17 July 2014 12:44

Here are you are :)

(see 1st post)

Note: These WAV samples contains the loop information. AFAIK some (most) pc programs DO NOT recognize these data, so if you want to keep that, please, use Awave Studio (execute as administrator, it will work) to convert to the format you like.

PS: at 12:43 is still uploading, if not available, please wait a little.

PS2: sorry if my english sucks :P

Brilliant , thank you so much.
Been after the classic EMU Loon , Shakuhachi , water etc. sample set for ages !

Your English is fine my friend !

Great work, thanks.

Slightly off topic, but I just did put two and two together. I listened to your awesome remix of Massive Attack's Teardrop a few days ago on Youtube without realizing it was done by someone from EAB.
I still have a case of drum&bass/jungle vinyls from 1992-2000 in storage. I was into hardstep and techstep at that time , back in 1998, but whenever I heard the Teardrop I was just mesmerized by the track.
