Cu Amiga Frustration

I'm flicking through the CU Amiga mags on the site, but it seems a great many of the "interesting" pages highlighted in the contents are missing :(

i could list off the examples... but is this because they're just not available? or were the pages selectively scanned and uploaded?

Solid Snake 10 January 2012 18:51

I gather you're talkin about http://amr.abime.net/issues_6
This is a great site, but I agree with you. Many pages from various issues were not scanned. This is frustating especially when u can't find an article mentioned on the index page!

I did find this http://www.bombjack.org/commodore/am...s/cu-amiga.htm

It shows many CU Amiga magazine covers and has downloads of special booklets that came with the magazine.

The CU Amiga Super CD Roms with TFX and C4D are most popular :spin

yeah! i wanted to look at an article on the Blizzard 1260 to see how much they were and what the reviews were at the time but was dissapointed :(

i'm not toooooo fussed about CU amiga, since i've placed an order with mort for it. but Amiga Format and Action are my next target, for reasons iterated in my "A plan to relive the Magazine & Coverdisk days" thread ;)

The 1260 runs @ 30 x speed of stock A1200 ! :crazy

diablothe2nd 10 January 2012 19:52

yeah i've read those.... not the same as flicking through pages of a magazine though, even a PDF of one ;)

Codetapper 10 January 2012 21:30

@diablothe2nd: You are welcome to locate the missing pages, scan them, rotate them correctly, clean up any major speckles, adjust the levels so they are readable and save them at a suitable size and we will add them to AMR.

diablothe2nd 10 January 2012 22:08

already planning on it with some stuff i dont think you guys have :great

infact i'd even be willing to help with the mags you've not yet done if you wanna post em to me!?

I don't have the ones in question though, hence my frustration.

EDIT - if my frustration came out as sounding like i'm accusing you guys of doing a bad job, and that there's not much to it, I apologise. I know from having worked in the 2d/3d imaging business how much of a job it is, and you guys are doing a fantastic job! and I was being sincere with my offer of help if you need it :great

Codetapper 10 January 2012 22:43

Most likely the only pages from CU you're likely to get easily are via Mort's DVD collection scans. He's given permission for them to be used but I usually try and clean up the images a bit as some aren't straight, are often too dark, black and white pages have been saved as RGB colour etc.

Also the mags I do have are located in New Zealand, quite a job to send them to the UK :)

The team would appreciate any help possible to complete the gaps as most of the current members have been very busy the last few years.

when I get Morts DVD (ordered Friday last week) I'll see what I can do :)

roy bates 11 January 2012 21:06

i dont know wiether its allowed, but i just bought a dvd of ebay with the cu amiga magazines scanned (full pages from the magazines)plus the floppys on as well for 4 quid.

ok scratch that its only from march 1990 to 98

diablothe2nd 11 January 2012 21:15

i recieved my one from Mort.

Mort has indeed confirmed that we can use the images for AMR :great

now i need every page (adverts n all!) of Amiga Format, Amiga Action... and maybe (if i have time) Amiga Power from the January '92 issue to clean up, crop and put in pdf :great

Codetapper 11 January 2012 21:18

Those guys on Fleabay are really scumbags as they've taken Mort's work and are undercutting him. He's the poor guy that's scanned 100,000+ pages and they're reselling his work for a fraction of the cost. I'd be tempted to report them, say the items got lost or ask for your money back as they're effectively counterfeit.

Ok guys, I got sick of viewing the contents pages of CU Amiga on AMR finding something i like then realising the pages it referenced aren't there.

So instead of tidying up EVERY page from morts collection (that would be a stupidly huge task!) I'm going to slowly work through all pages that are referenced in the contents.

I'll periodically update when i've done a few mags at once rather than mess around with each mag everytime i complete it.

diablothe2nd 30 March 2012 18:11

Ok slight change of plan, Decided i'd better upload some examples of my abilities so as not to waste my time or yours.

I'm uploading to the zone now, please let me know and i'll keep going :D
